The conference has alot of Students, as the fee for students is only $25, as opposed to $125 for non-students. Alot of good looking female ones too, I might add. We stayed at my old roommates's place, cause he is on Co-op there. That saved us alot of money. We took a retal car down to DC, an got there in about 6.5 hours.
Thursday was a day highlighted by the granduer of the expirence. The first speaker was George Will, the top conservative columinist and genius in this country. I don't say genius lightly, he thinks the war in Iraq is a bad idea, and he is a conservative without the neo attachment that follows conservatism so often today. The other highlight of the day had to be Rick Santorum, who I identify myself the most with. He is a Christian Conservative, and a man I respect much. Thursday was also the day we checked out the exhibit hall, which has alot of cool free stuff. The rest of the day was filled with panel discussions, Gen. Oliver North, Fmr House Leader Dick Armey and Elaine Chow. The lowlight was not being able to see Dick Cheaney and George Allen, my canidate for President in 2008. This was beacause they were at the "Presidential Banquet" which cost $200 more to enter.
Friday was the best day of the conference. We started the day with a speech by Texas Gov. Rick Perry, which was ok, but not great. Later was Senator McConnell, who again was decent. A highlight for me was the Young Americans Foundation Luncheon, where I got to meet a pollster, and I discussed with her what I need to do and all that good stuff. The only good panel was the one that stirred problems, and that was the one on the war on drugs. George Soros of Moveon.org (huge libral group) had paid to get this spot, under a group of people that were used for the sole purpose of trying to move conservatives on the issue. He basically made the libaratrian argument, of people should have choice. The highlight of the day was Ann Counter, the conservative diva. She threw out one-liners, as was defently offending some people, to hear the speech, click below:

These are a few of the more touchy excerpts:
"The one notable exception to the Muslims with bipolar disorder is in Iraq, I note, so I guess this war for oil has side benefits. Muslims are the only group [sic] who kill because they're angry people have called them violent.
…
These riots of Muslims remind us why we have to take seriously the threat that Iran has nukes. Maybe they do, maybe they don't--but they're certainly acting like they do. What if they start having one of these bipolar episodes with nuclear weapons? If you don't want to get shot by the police, don't point a gun at them--or as I think our motto should be, post-9/11, raghead talks tough, raghead faces consequences."
She also said her toughest ethical decision was "She had a shot at Clinton once"
And (excuse language, quote) "To be a Republican, you can't be a pussy"
Overall, I liked the speech. I am a fan of Coulter, and I read her books. Later that day we heard RNC chair Ken Mellhman, and majority leader Bill Frist. The both had good speeches. I then spept the end of the night at a bar, dancing with some drunk people, and then dragging 2 drunk people home. (We has a DD, so it was cool). It was a reminder of that other side, and was the last time I seen something like that since the NY College Republican Convention last Spring. We got back home at 3:30 AM.
Saturay was a day we did little, sentce we slept in until 10:00 AM. There was a big snow storm, so we debated going home right then. We decided that we wanted to see Wayne LaPierre, head of the NRA, but would leave after taht, missing out on Newt Gingrich. We lost our car that we parked, but we ending up finding it and being back on the road at about 3:30 PM. Got in about 11 PM. Now I need hit the sack, goodnight.
